The LIU GRAY Book is the document through which learning contracts (goals and objectives) with each student are agreed, and achievement of the specified objectives, acquisition of the specified skills and demonstration of the specified attitudes are managed and recorded. The GRAY Book summarises the proposals of the WFME and lists in detail the specific learning objectives of the medical study program. The goals and objectives for each unit of study (preclinical and clinical) are listed, and the student is assessed using appropriate methods to ensure that each and every objective has been achieved. Where the student fails to achieve a specific objective, this is discussed with the student, a remedial program and timetable is agreed and the student sets out to achieve these objectives in the shortest time, often progressing to the next study unit at the same time. The GRAY book for each student constitutes a personal record of their achievements through the program, including an attested record or log book of their clinical involvements in terms of the clinical cases they have been involved with, and the clinical procedures they have observed, undertaken under supervision, and undertaken independently. Access beyond this point requires participant enrolment. |
