The LIU BLUE Book is the document through which the current status of and plan for the development of individual staff educational skills, styles and attitudes are managed.

The BLUE Book summarises the proposals of the WFME regarding the desirable attributes and skills of a medical educator.  These are discussed and explored with each staff member, and the extent to which they have been achieved is evaluated.

Based on this evaluation, a plan for the future is developed jointly with the staff member, identifying those areas where efforts will be made to change and improve their skills during the coming year.  During that year at intervals a trained staff development person will sit in on sessions being conducted by that staff member, and will review materials and educational experiences being prepared by that person in order to form an impression of how they are progressing, and personal tuition workshops can be arranged as and when required to help them along.

Of course the situation is formally re-evaluated annually and the achievements of the individual are highlighted and endorsed.  Then the cycle begins again as the staff member pursues his/her quest to achieve the highest possible standards of performance in the education of their students, as well as in their interactions with colleagues in the institution.

Access beyond this point requires participant enrolment.
